Cultivating Emotionally Intelligent Communication

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is a key component of success, largely because it is critical to working well with others. A person’s EQ influences everything they say and do; a higher EQ helps a person have more positive outcomes in interactions with others, and increases their ability to influence others.

Workshop Objective:

This workshop focuses on increasing individuals’ EQ to benefit communication, leadership, team performance, and overall well-being. Participants will learn how to leverage powerful EQ strategies for self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, and relationship management.

Who is it for:

Anyone who wants to improve interactions with other people, be it as a leader or a teammate, thus improving their overall performance will benefit from this workshop.

How does it work:

Participants will take a brief 15-minute EQ assessment online. During the group workshop, we will provide and debrief the results including their EQ scores. We will then identify the best strategies for improvement and create an action plan for success.

Outcomes:

  • Gain greater self-awareness
  • Identify personal triggers that could be contributing to conflict
  • Explore the conflict code
  • Create an action plan for increasing EQ and improving workplace interactions

Methodology:

We use the theory of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and behavioral assessment to give participants greater self-awareness and employ strategies for improving awareness of both self and others in the workplace.

Program Structure:

This workshop can take place in one of two ways: over the course of a half-day for 3 hours or a full day for 6 hours.

Managing Conflict Productively

The Thomas-Kilmann Instrument establishes 5 basic modes for handling conflict. Using this model, we have developed a workshop that examines the conflict modes participants rely on and teaches how, when necessary, to employ other modes. The result is a strategic approach to conflict that benefits a resolution.

Workshop Objective:

The goal of this workshop is to uncover participants’ favored conflict styles and expand their skill set and ability to assess what conflict mode is appropriate in each situation to reach a solution.

Who is it for:

Everyone! The TKI assessment allows trainers, HR professionals and individuals to safely open a discussion about conflict, to reveal patterns, and to look at instances when one conflict mode is productive and when choosing another style would be more effective.

How does it work:

After taking the TKI assessment, participants will receive a personalized analysis report. Each report graphically shows how the participant uses the five conflict-handling modes, which we will then use to expand their use of other modes when appropriate.

Outcomes:

  • Discover preferred conflict-handling style with the TKI assessment
  • Recognize the conflict styles of others
  • Learn how to assess conflict situations
  • Practice using different conflict modes in various scenarios

Methodology:

We use the 5 basic modes for handling conflict provided by the Thomas Kilmann Instrument (TKI) in this workshop to highlight which modes or behaviors participants may be over- or under-using in their approach.

Program Structure:

This workshop takes place in one of two ways: a 90-minute or 3-hour in- person session.
