OVERVIEW & LEARNING OBJECTIVES
In this session participants will learn new skills to improve their agile emotional intelligence. In turn, this allows them to improve workplace relationships, leading to stronger and more agile company culture. By the end of the learning experience, individuals will be equipped to understand how to read the emotions in a situation and then offer the appropriate response.
After completing this profile, individuals will be exposed to enhance their emotional intelligence. They’ll know how to step outside of their comfort zone and operate on the fly, easily adjusting their responses for any situation.
EQ BACKGROUND AND THEORY
The Agile EQ model assumes that there are a variety of different social and emotional skills that are necessary to successfully navigate relationships and work. These are skills like being assertive, managing one’s temper, or showing compassion. The Agile EQ model arranges these skills into eight mindsets (e.g., self-assured, composed, empathetic).
We all have certain mindsets that come naturally to us, to the point where they tend to be automatic. Other mindsets tend to be less comfortable, and, as a result, we might not always recognize when a situation calls for them. For instance, a person who is naturally very composed, receptive, and empathetic may not recognize that they need to project more self-assurance when dealing with a difficult coworker.
The Agile EQ model proposes that an emotionally intelligent person is one who (1) recognizes which mindsets are most appropriate in a given situation and (2) stretches to use those mindsets (regardless of how comfortable they may be for that person). This ability to stretch is called agility. The Agile EQ model also proposes that with practice, persistence, and the right resources, agility can be developed by anyone.
