Introduction to Emotional Intelligence
The ability to connect emotionally with others is essential for leadership effectiveness. Individuals at every level in an organization benefit from emotionally intelligent leadership, which results in greater commitment and engagement, productivity, and other positive benefits. This workshop serves as an introduction to the core elements of emotional intelligence and can be integrated with a variety of our other content to help participants address the social and emotional aspects of leadership. The workshop focuses on learning experiences related to 4 elements of emotional intelligence and features a tool that helps participants assess and reappraise situations that activate negative emotional reactions.

OUTCOMES
Everything in this workshop is connected to a Key Question: How can we better understand and manage our emotions at work? Developing this essential skill is the workshop’s primary objective. To provide
greater specificity, participant materials highlight 3 answers to this Key Question. These answers can be thought of as enabling objectives. Presenting the workshop’s objectives in this format promotes
engagement and deeper learning by helping participants identify what they already know about these topics and how they want to grow. However, they can be restated more conventionally as seen here.
After completing the workshop, participants will be better able to:
- Define emotional intelligence as a leadership competency
- Identify the internal processes that impact external behavior
- Practice personal and social competencies related to emotional intelligence
And ultimately:
- Improve relationships, build effective teams, and enable positive change
ASSESSMENT
Participants will have an EQ Check Up that will be completed during the session to identify how they are doing in the four EQ domains. We do have an official EQ Assessment that can be utilized in this session (additional cost per person) and is completed ahead of the session online.
